The Crowds Continue to Flock to the National Mall

We spent another day on the Mall today - Martin Luther King Day - participating with hundreds of thousands in the giant peaceful takeover that has taken a hold of the capitol.

I remember other inauguration weekends - though I have never been at one in person - where the pomp and the circumstances seem to take center stage. This one seems to be very different. The throngs of people who were strolling up and down the Mall and viewing the Capitol decked out in giant flags seemed to be there laying a claim to their Capitol and to their government. Strangers were talking to strangers and taking pictures of each other. A peaceful revolution was reaching its climax. No weapons, no violence, the police and the army are mere spectators as the people are taking back their government.
