Obama Assumes Presidency

Welcomed by millions in Washington and billions around the world, Barack H. Obama addressed the country for the first time as its president.
For those who wanted to be there in person, the day started early and the wait in the lines was long but all of our neighbors agreed that it was well worth it. Poignant moments were the oath itself, Obama's speech and Bush's departure by helicopter.

Monterey County Democratic Voter Guide

You Decide Who Will Represent you at the Democratic Convention!

On Sunday, April 13, Democrats in our Congressional District will have an opportunity to select five delegates who will represent them at the Denver National Democratic Convention. They will cast their vote for Clinton or Obama on behalf of all of us here on the Central Coast.

In order to vote in the Democratic caucus, you must have voted in the February Democratic Primary in the 17th Congressional District (Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito Counties).
Voters who voted Democratic but are registered as "Declined to State" need to re-register as Democrats in order to be eligible to vote in this Caucus. You will be able to re-register on site.

Time: 2 pm Sunday, April 13, 2008
Doors open at 2pm. Voting can begin and voters do not have to stay for the speeches.
Sign-in closes at 3:15 pm sharp. Anyone who is not in line by 3:15 pm cannot vote.
Speeches by candidates start after 3:15 pm.

Obama Caucus at Cabrillo College - Horticulture Center
Location: 6500 Soquel Avenue, Aptos. Horticulture Center is on top of the hill. Park below or drop off passengers in front of the building and then re-park.

Clinton Caucus at Monterey Institute of International Studies
Location: McCone Bldg., Irvine Auditorium, Corner of Pierce and Jefferson Street, Monterey. Entrance is on Pierce Street.
