Here is your Republican roll call for the day:

• The President gives a speech regarding Iraq. Before he even does so, Iraq Prime Minister al-Maliki contradicts what the President has to say.
• The RNC runs a race-baiting ad in Tennessee.
• Rick Santorum runs an ad juxtaposing a mushroom cloud with Bob Casey.
• Rush Limbaugh goes after Michael J. Fox, suggesting that he exaggerates his Parkinson’s.
• Hillary Clinton’s opponent – whatever his name is – serves up a personal attack on her looks.

This from the Cook Political Report:

[T]his is without question the worst political situation for the GOP since the Watergate disaster in 1974. I think a 30-seat gain today for Democrats is more likely to occur than a 15-seat gain, the minimum that would tip the majority. The chances of that number going higher are also strong, unless something occurs that fundamentally changes the dynamic of this election. This is what Republican strategists' nightmares look like.

'Bush Blocked Ethics Inquiry' - so went the caption in the New York Times (registration required). With the Middle East dominating news coverage, this tidbit may not get the play it otherwise deserves.

More on youth and politics: Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post gives some coverage to the popular website YouTube, which describes itself as "a place for people to engage in new ways with video by sharing, commenting on, and viewing videos.

Peter D. Hart Research Associates has conducted a poll for the Panetta Institute, tracking the opinions of college students (the Institute has done this since 2001). You can read the Herald's summary of the report here.

This morning's Herald runs a piece from the Baltimore Sun, on the National Review's list of the "the 50 greatest conservative rock songs." Since the list has been out there for a couple of weeks, naturally it has been dutifully lampooned.
